We are very excited to be hosting this panel on Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights.
Kate Jones is a fellow of Kellogg College and an Associate of the Oxford Human Rights Hub. She completed both her undergraduate and her postgraduate studies in law at Somerville College. Her background is as a diplomat and lawyer with the legal cadre of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. At the FCO she advised the British Government on, among other topics, human rights law. Her work focuses on cyber and human rights law issues, and she is the author of Chatham House’s research paper "Online Disinformation and Political Discourse: Applying a Human Rights Framework".
Rebecca Williams is Professor of Public Law and Criminal Law, in association with Pembroke College. Rebecca was both an undergraduate and a BCL student at Worcester College. Increasingly her work focuses on the relationship of law and technology and the ways in which the law will need to develop in order to keep pace with technological developments. She is a co-founder of OLTEP, the Oxford LawTech Education Programme.
This panel will give you the opportunity to ask any theoretical questions relating to the rise of artificial intelligence and the impact this is having on human rights, as well as practical questions relating to the speakers' career choices.
The event will be held from 6.00pm-7.00pm on Monday the 28th of February.
