On Tuesday 7 June (Week 7), the Obligations Discussion Group and the Property Law Discussion Group will be holding a panel discussion on the recent judgment of Mr Justice Michael Green in Butler-Sloss v Charity Commission [2022] EWHC 974 (Ch). The case considered whether ‘charities, whose principal purposes are environmental protection and improvement and the relief of poverty, [should] be able to adopt an investment policy that excludes many potential investments because the trustees consider that they conflict with their charitable purposes?’ (at [1]).

The panel members will include: (i) Edward Cumming QC (XXIV Old Buildings), who acted successfully for the claimants in the case; (ii) William Swadling (Oxford); and (iii) Ben McFarlane (Oxford).

This event will be taking place in person and online and light refreshments will be available afterwards.
