IECL Launches Exchange Programme with Max Planck Law
Associated people
We are delighted to announce a new exchange programme between the Institute of European and Comparative Law (IECL) at the University of Oxford and Max Planck Law, a network of nine legal research institutes of the Max Planck Society. This collaboration will enable up to two academics or DPhil students from each institution to spend up to two months at the partner institution.
Professor Matt Dyson, Director of the IECL, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration:
Max Planck Law offers a bright constellation of academic opportunity, and the Institute of European and Comparative Law at Faculty of Law in the University of Oxford is delighted to have this new partnership of scholarship and exchange. For those of us already fortunate enough to have passed through the doors of Max Planck Institutes (MPIs) for conference and visits, we already know what an opportunity it is. New generations of researchers from Oxford will now have a special opportunity to engage with MPI researchers in both institutions, as well as access the immense resources of the Max Planck Law network. We look forward to welcoming the first visitors in the coming year.
Professor Stefan Vogenauer, Chair of Max Planck Law, welcomed the development:
The Faculty of Law of the University of Oxford and the IECL are true centres of excellence for legal scholarship. There is a reason that Oxford University has been world number one in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings since 2017! The new exchange agreement offers unrivalled opportunities for the doctoral students and the postdoctoral researchers of our network. They will be able to exchange ideas with world-leading scholars in their respective fields and spend a term in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. At the same time, our Institutes will receive visitors of outstanding calibre who will enrich our research communities. We very much look forward to the new exchange.
This partnership builds upon Oxford’s existing collaborations with other institutions such as the University of Rome La Sapienza, the University of Seville, the University of Stockholm, the European University Institute, Florence, and others.
We anticipate a fruitful and enriching programme that will help drive forward legal scholarship and research.
