Biography

Durodola, Tosin Samuel recently obtained an M.A in African Studies (Diaspora and Transnational Studies) with the highest Distinction from the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He did not only emerge the best student in Diaspora and Transnational Studies; he also became the overall best student at the Institute of African Studies. His thesis was voted as the overall best at the departmental and faculty level by the Institute of African Studies. Tosin graduated from Bowen University, Iwo in 2016, with Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in History and International Studies. He is a Research Fellow of the French Institute for Research in Africa (IFRA-Nigeria) and was a Research Intern at the Centre for African Studies, University of Mumbai. He is also a recipient of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) funding to study a summer programme on migration management and border at Viadrina Center Borders in Motion, European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany. Tosin has done extensive collection, analysis, and dissemination of qualitative data on forced migration, diaspora, and refugee camps which have been published at prestigious academic platforms such as Oxford University’s Centre for Migration, Policy and Society; Oxford Monitor of Forced Migration; CAS Journal of African Currents; and a few others. He is contributing a chapter to a forthcoming edited volume: The Palgrave Handbook of Global Social Change - Major Reference Work (2022); International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) special issue on ‘Gender, Conflict and Displacement’; as well as the Research Topic, “The Integration Context of Refugees and Immigrants: Challenges and Opportunities in the Receiving Countries” at Frontiers in Sociology; amongst many others. Tosin is currently the Special Assistant on Digital Communications to the Governor of Ekiti State, Nigeria.
