Sophie Ellis
PhD Candidate, Prisons Research Centre, Institute of Criminology, University of Cambridge
Biography
Dr Sophie Ellis has spent most of her career working in psychological assessment and interventions with men imprisoned for violence. In 2017 she joined the research team for the Families and Imprisonment Research (FAIR) Study: a 9 year longitudinal study of imprisoned fathers and their partners/children. Since then, her interest in prisoners’ families has grown to encompass particularly: the experiences of ethnic minority families with a father who has been to prison; the intersection between family violence and the impact of imprisonment; and the professional narratives that are used to describe families of prisoners/probationers.
