Shivangi Gupta

Shivangi is a PhD student in Family Studies at the Department of Human Development and Family Science at Virginia Tech. Shivangi is interested in examining the experiences of wives of the incarcerated in the Indian context. She is particularly interested in using a feminist lens to look at the engagement of wives of the incarcerated with public systems including the criminal justice system as well as systems of informal work and social security. Shivangi wants to study sexuality in the context of a marital relationship regulated by the prison system. Previously, she has worked on a research study investigating psychosocial health and experiences of children of the incarcerated in India.
