Biography

Rafaela Granja holds a PhD in Sociology (2015) and is researcher at the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS), University of Minho, Portugal. In 2020 she was awarded a Grant from "Scientific Employment Stimulus" promoted by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, a researcher-centred, highly competitive scheme, aimed at providing support for the most talented and creative researchers. Her research explores topics of technological surveillance of criminalized populations, the interconnections between family, genetics and crime, and reconfigurations of family relationships inside and outside prison. She is also a lecturer in University of Minho on topics such as Social Studies of Crime and Qualitative Methods.
