Rafael Aguilera Gordillo

Biography

Director of the Diploma of Specialization in Corporate Compliance at Loyola University, professor of Criminal Compliance & International Security, and co-director of the Compliance Advisory LAB at Grant Thornton. Aguilera is an academic member of the Anti-Corruption Academic Initiative of UNODC. He is also co-director of the postgraduate program for all of Latin America on Criminal Liability of Legal Entities, Forensics, and Compliance Systems in International and National Frameworks at the University of Valladolid, and a faculty member of various postgraduate programs on Compliance and Corporate Criminal Law, such as the professional course on Compliance Officer at the University of Deusto, the high specialization diploma in Economic Criminal Law at the Complutense University of Madrid, etc. He has been a research associate at the College of Law at Florida International University and a academic visitor at Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at University of Oxford.

He has participated as an expert in Compliance and Corporate Criminal Law in prestigious forums such as the United Nations High-Level Summit on Education and Rule of Law and he has been a member of the academic board of the 1st International Congress ICT Law and Criminology in the New Digital Era. He is a member of the DECOMESI Research Group "European Common Law and International Studies" and a researcher in the EXPHILROB project "Research Challenges" of the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities on the "Social and Regulatory Consequences of Robotics and Human Enhancement Technologies," together with expert researchers in ethics, psychology, sociology, and behavioral economics from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). He is a member of the American Law and Economics Association, author of several books and monographs, as well as a wide range of specialized articles published in Spanish and Latin American academic journals. Among other titles, he holds a Master's degree in Criminal Law from the University of Seville, a Master's degree in Public Law from the University of Córdoba, a Specialization Diploma for Lawyers from the School of Legal Practice of the Bar Association and the Professional Aptitude Certificate (CAP) from the Spanish General Council of the Legal Profession.
