Biography

Peter Watts has been a Visiting Professor at the Oxford Law Faculty, and Senior Research Fellow of Harris Manchester College (attached to the Commercial Law Centre), since 2017. He is also an Emeritus Professor of the University of Auckland. He practises as a barrister at Bankside Chambers in Auckland, New Zealand and is a door tenant at Fountain Court Chambers, The Temple, London. He is a New Zealand King's Counsel and a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand. He is the General Editor of Bowstead & Reynolds on Agency (23rd edition), and a contributing author to Chitty on Contracts. He is also an author of Watts, Campbell and Hare, Company Law in New Zealand (2nd ed, 2016), and of Watts, Directors' Powers and Duties (3rd ed, 2021). He was conferred Doctor of Civil Law in 2024.
