Biography

Morgiane Noel's research primarily focuses on European and International Human rights. Her work explores among other issues, the implications of climate change on the right to life and the right to access to a fair trial. She has also worked extensively on Migration, Gender Bias in asylum claims, and EU governance and integration.  

She holds a Bachelor in Law (Honours), a two-year master’s degree from the Catholic University of Louvain  (Magna Cum Laude), and an Erasmus master’s degree from the Global Studies Institute at the University of Geneva (Summa Cum Laude). Additionally, she completed an LLM in European and International Business Law at Trinity College, a certificate in Humanitarian Law from the College of Europe, and a Teaching in Higher Education certificate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She received different awards for her academic work (including a recent nomination for the Teaching Awards at Trinity College Dublin).  

Morgiane has worked as a Teaching Assistant and Head of Teaching Assistants in European Law and European Politics at Trinity’s School of Law and Department of Political Science. She was also a Lecturer at Dublin City University. In parallel with her Ph.D., she serves as a European Advocate representing European NGOs, engaging with the EU Council and submitting reports on human rights, youth involvement in policymaking, worker rights during the just transition, and climate justice. Her current work focuses on building dialogue with the Danish delegation, soon to hold the Council of the EU presidency, to address areas such as identifying energy poverty in the EU and its impacts. She is also research assistant ( French , English and Flemish) for the project Prison Oversight : Improving Rights in Europe (POIRE ) at the Trinity School of Law. Before pursuing her Ph.D., Morgiane worked in a corporate law firm in Luxembourg, an Immigration law firm in Dublin,  in the EU quarter in Brussels and in international relations institutions. She has established and secured funding for different research initiatives and is the organiser of the Women in Research week at Trinity college, building dialogue between researchers and College institutions such as the EDI committee . She is also the Chair of the Women in Research Network at Trinity College.Her initiatives have involved close collaboration with various actors from different sectors, embassies, and international organizations, such as the IOM and the Embassy of Algeria in Dublin. Morgiane has been an Early Career Researcher resident at the Trinity Long Room Hub, a member of the Irish Centre for European Law, and the Society of Legal Scholars. She is also an Emerging Scholar at the Kaldor Centre for Refugee Law.  In 2023, Morgiane funded a social justice initiative aimed at improving access to higher education in Ireland and is deeply involved in representation and inclusion of women from different social and cultural backgrounds in academia. She is currently visiting the European University Institute in Florence and will be visiting the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights for the Trinity Term 2025.
