DPhil Criminology

Biography

Marquis Palmer is a DPhil Candidate in the Centre for Criminology. His research is concerned with the relationship between gun violence, criminalization, mobility, and public space. He is interested in black geographies, mass incarceration beyond "the big city," political theory, restorative justice and abolition.

Alongside his research, Marquis is a restorative justice practitioner with Common Justice, a cutting-edge, survivor-centered program that addresses serious violence without relying on incarceration.

His part-time doctoral candidacy is generously supported by Exeter College's Amelia Jackson Studentship and the Marshall Scholarship.
