Lars Breuls

Lars Breuls is a Professor of Penology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels. His research interests include practices of immigration control and practices of prison sentence implementation. For his Ph.D., he carried out ethnographic research in immigration detention in Belgium and in the Netherlands (October 2016 – September 2020). He also conducted research on immigration and penal decision making processes, the implementation of risk assessment tools in penal contexts, etc.
