Karen Richardson

Biography

Karen Richardson graduated in Jurisprudence at Somerville, and was the first female President of the Oxford University Law Society. She later helped to set up Somerville Lawyers, which she chaired for seven years, and is the immediate past President of the Somerville Association.

She qualified as a solicitor both in the UK and in Hong Kong, and was elected as the first female partner of Travers Smith, specialising in Company and Commercial law. She subsequently became Group Company Secretary of Reed International plc, and later of Novar plc.

Karen was the first female Master of the Worshipful Company of Solicitors of the City of London, in its 100th year, and President of the City of London Law Society. She is the immediate past Chairman of the Financial Services Group of Livery Companies.

Karen is a past Chairman of the National Association of Women Solicitors, and of International Women's Forum in London. She is currently a governor of Reed's School in Cobham.
