Jyothsna Gurumurthy
Biography
Jyothsna is a DPhil Candidate at the Faculty of Law, researching on the regulation of Deepfakes and AI generated content, through the lens of disinformation and the identity rights of the subjects involved in doctored media, under the supervision of Prof. Rebecca Williams and Dr. Giovanni De Gregorio.
She holds a BA.LLB (Hons.) from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad India (2019) and a Bachelor of Civil Law (Distinction) from the University of Oxford (2020). She is admitted to the Indian Bar, enrolled under the Karnataka State Bar Council (2019).
Jyothsna has been a teaching assistant for Family Law, during her final year at NALSAR, and has also taught on the Oxford Law Summer Programme in July 2022 organised by the Oxford Law Faculty. She has been a research assistant to Dr. Poona Mysoor, helping her with the publication of her monograph (Implied Licences in Copyright Law) and is currently a research assistant for the Oxford Law Tech Education Programme. She is also a co-convenor of the Future of Technology and Society Discussion Group. She is passionate about technology, law and music. Her academic interests include law and technology, intellectual property law, data protection law and platform liability in general.
