Julia Gill

MPhil Socio-Legal Studies

Biography

Julia Gill is an MPhil student at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies (CSLS) at St. Antony's College.

Her research explores how the law considers the interests of the child in American homeschooling regulatory regimes. She is studying the recent phenomenon of homeschooling re-regulation, and the arguments used to justify greater child protections. Her project is supervised by Associate Professor of Law and Regulation Bettina Lange. 

Prior to joining CSLS in 2023, Julia was a Senior Research Assistant at the Brookings Institution in Washington D.C. analyzing housing policy. Before that, she served as Associate Director of the STEM Program Evaluation and Research Lab at Yale University.

Julia graduated from Amherst College in 2020 with a B.A. in American Studies magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.
