Joseph Aimard
Biography
I am currently a student in the MSc in Migration Studies and recently graduated from the dual degree programme between Trinity College Dublin and Columbia University, where I studied European Studies and Political Science. I am French and American and grew up in France and Scotland. Over the past couple of years, I have interned at a think tank, an NGO, and French governmental organisations. My work there revolved around advocacy and research on international affairs, public policy, and migrants’ rights. Between my studies in Dublin and New York, I took a year off from university to lead a participatory photography project with undocumented migrants in Paris. The goal of the project was to allow migrants to convey their experiences and to help Parisians understand exile and rootlessness from their point of view. This experience greatly contributed to my desire to study migration studies at Oxford. Most recently, I worked at a law firm in Washington D.C., where I participated in the firm’s asylum cases. I am one of the Interns with the Border Criminologies blog for this year.
