Biography

Giuseppe Campesi is Associate professor in law and society. Before joining the Department of Political Sciences at the University of Bari (Italy) in 2011, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University Florence, Jean Monnet Fellow at the Migration Policy Centre of the European University Institute and visiting research fellow at the Observatory on the Penal System and Human Rights of the University of Barcelona. His research interests cut across law, sociology and political sciences, focusing on critical legal studies, criminology and criminal justice, border control and migration policies. In recent years he has also embarked upon extensive empirical research on border control practices, being responsible for an observatory on reception policies and immigration detention in Southern Italy.
