Cyndy Thooi
Biography
Cyndy graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Sheffield and completed the Bar Vocational Course, being Called to the Bar at Middle Temple in 2003. She began her career in taxation, working with leading accounting firms including KPMG, Ernst & Young, and Grant Thornton. She relocated to the Middle East, Asia, and Australia, spending 14 years in Dubai, Doha, Kuala Lumpur, and Sydney, where she gained international experience in the educational sector.
Over the past seven years, Cyndy has contributed to a range of institutions in roles that span academic support, operations, and events management.
Position Description
Cyndy is the Faculty Events Manager at the University of Oxford’s Faculty of Law, serving as the primary point of contact for all event-related activity. She provides expert administrative and strategic support to enable Faculty members to plan, coordinate, and deliver a wide portfolio of academic events to the highest professional standard.
Cyndy leads the organisation of key Faculty events including the Annual Faculty Lectures, Special Lectures, Professorial Inaugural Lectures, Conferences, End-of-Year Dinners, and Research Group activities such as workshops and book launches. Her role extends beyond logistics, contributing to the Faculty’s strategic goals by enhancing visibility, engagement, and operational excellence through events.
