Binendri Perera

Binendri Perera is a D.Phil. in Law candidate at the University of Oxford studying feminist constitutional theory. She is currently on study leave from the Department of Public & International Law of the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, where she taught constitutional law and public international law. She read for her LL.M. at the Harvard Law School. She completed her LL.B. at the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Her research interests are constitutional law, feminist legal theory, rights of persons with disabilities, and law and literature.
Her most recent research ‘Semi-presidentialisation and Executive Accountability: A Cautionary Tale from Sri Lanka to the UK’ was published by the Constitution Society of the United Kingdom in 2024. Her research on how persons with disabilities are impacted by the pandemic titled ‘Deepening Vulnerability: COVID -19 and Disability’ was published by the International Centre for Ethnic Studies, Sri Lanka, in 2023.
Binendri is also a novelist with six novels published in her mother tongue Sinhala. Her novel Nuwanakkari won the Godage Award for Best Novel Contribution of the Year 2008. Her debut English novel ‘Her Truth’ (a women’s fiction and contemporary political fiction) was published by Alcove Publishers, India, in 2024.
