Biography
Ariel Engel Pesso is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and currently an Academic Visitor at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies (CSLS) at University of Oxford (2024). He holds a bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD degree in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of São Paulo (USP), as well as a bachelor’s degree in Portuguese and German Literature from the Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Literature, and Human Sciences (USP). He was a Visiting Researcher at Harvard University (2022) and at the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory (2023). His research interests are related to Legal Theory and Legal History, especially Legal Education and Brazilian Slavery.
