Amelia Inglis

Biography

Amelia is a doctoral student supervised by Professor Carolyn Hoyle. Her research explores how the criminal justice system can shape recovery for the family members of homicide victims in the US. In particular, she seeks to understand how family members are impacted by the capital appeals process and resulting sentence reversals (most commonly from a death sentence to a life sentence). Amelia is funded by an ESRC Grand Union Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) Studentship.

Prior to undertaking the DPhil, Amelia completed the MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Oxford. She also holds a First-Class undergraduate degree in Sociology with Criminology from the University of York, where she was awarded the York Award.
