Pavlos Eleftheriadis writes on the refugee crisis in Greek waters

Pavlos Eleftheriadis, Professor of Public Law,  has written an article for 'Politico' which shines a light on the treatment of refugees fleeing their home countries in boats off the coast of Greece and Turkey.

In the opinion piece 'The rule of law is sinking in Greek waters' Pavlos argues that the Greek government must investigate claims that refugees were pushed back from the coast by coastguards when in fact they were legally entitled to land and have their cases for asylum assessed by the authorities.  He also calls on the Greek government to stop referring to migrants as a “security threat” and to condemn those parliamentarians who use racist, inflammatory language in reference to asylum seekers.
