Oxford team wins the KLS-Thomson Reuters National Law Student Triathlon 2022

We are proud to announce that the team representing the University of Oxford, Harry Chan (St Catherine’s College) and Rhys Duncan (Trinity College), have won the KLS-Thomson Reuters National Law Student Triathlon 2022.

This inaugural competition was held at the Kent Law School on Saturday, the 30th of April, and saw 19 teams (representing universities from around the United Kingdom) participate in a negotiation, first instance advocacy exercise, and moot. The problem explored trust law in relation to cohabiting couples and the division of equity in shared properties. Over the course of the competition, teams had to represent one party in all stages of the litigation process, requiring a wide range of skills and extensive knowledge of the facts.

Oxford's team received praise from all judges throughout the day, particularly in regard to their advocacy in the moot, and collaboration during the negotiation. In light of their success, the team received a cash award and were also awarded advocacy training with Bernard Richmond QC, Director of Studies at the Middle Temple’s Advocacy School.
