OLBA Changemakers Interview with Caroline Heaton Nicholls

The latest interview of the Oxford Law Black Alumni (OLBA) Changemakers Series is now live.

In this episode, Sfiso Benard Nxumalo, President of the Oxford Law Black Alumni Network, interviews Caroline Heaton Nicholls, Justice of the South African Supreme Court of Appeal.

Justice Nicholls started practising law during apartheid and worked mostly with political prisoners at the time, who were being charged with high treason and terrorism. She talks about her experiences then and the obstacles she faced as a woman entering the legal profession. She also reflects on the necessary steps required for change and the role of mentoring and an intersectional approach to making the judiciary more diverse.
