Oxford's Jessup Moot Team crowned UK National Champions

On Sunday 13 February 2022, the University of Oxford’s Jessup team was named the UK National Champion team of the prestigious Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, the world’s largest and most prestigious international moot court competition. This year was the 50th year that UK National Rounds have been held in the Jessup. Oxford was the first university in the UK to participate in the competition in 1970 and has won the National Championship four times since (in 2008, 2009, 2013, and 2014).

Oxford’s Jessup team for this year is coached by Sophie Ryan (DPhil Candidate, Magdalen College) and consists of:
• Kristy Chan (Somerville College)
• Luca Geary (Magdalen College)
• Athena Kam (Pembroke College)
• Joseph Khaw (Wadham College)
• Christopher McHugh (Keble College)
 
Joseph Khaw also won the award for Best Oralist in the Championship Round and Luca Geary, Joseph Khaw, Christopher McHugh, and Athena Kam were named Top 15 oralists in the Preliminary Rounds. 
 
The team will now go on to contest the International Rounds of the competition, due to be held online (due to the pandemic) from 25 March to 10 April 2022. The National Rounds were this year held in-person at Lincoln’s Inn in London.
