James Goudkamp and Donal Nolan convened an online workshop over the course of April and May 2021 on the theme Scholars of Contract Law. The proceedings addressed the work of some of the most significant contract scholars in the common law world, from Sir Jeffrey Gilbert (1674–1726) through to Professor Brian Coote (1929–2019). Presentations were given by Michael Lobban (LSE), Joanna McCunn (Bristol), Catharine MacMillan (KCL), Robert Stevens (Oxford), James Gordley (Tulane), Todd Rakoff (Harvard), Greg Klass (Georgetown), Hugh Collins (LSE), Jonathan Morgan (Cambridge), Andrew Burrows (UK Supreme Court), Stephen Waddams (Toronto) and Warren Swain (Auckland). The final versions of the papers presented will be published in 2022 by Hart Publishing. The work will be the second volume in a series, with the first, Scholars of Tort Law, having been published in 2019.
