Prof Chris Hodges OBE appointed member of the Commonhold Council

The Government has today announced the creation of a Commonhold Council, chaired by the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities & Local Government, to advise him on steps to implement the hugely transformative switch from leasehold to commonhold across the country. This implements extensive work done by Prof Nick Hopkins at the Law Commission. The Commonhold Council comprises 11 experts in the property sector, finance and law. The only academic member is Prof Hodges, whose remit is to focus on issues of delivering redress and dispute resolution in the commonhold context. This follows his extensive review of all disputes in England & Wales in his book Delivering Dispute Resolution, his membership of Lord Best’s working party on Regulation of Property Agents, and ongoing work on bringing together policy on property disputes working with judges and Ombudsmen in the sector.
