Oxford Law and Coronavirus
Most of us around the world will be facing very challenging circumstances as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. Here in Oxford, our priority has been to ensure the safety of our staff and students. We are following University of Oxford advice and UK government advice very closely.
All Law Faculty academic and administrative staff are now working remotely. Many of our students have gone home, and where that has not been safe or practical, colleges are providing support for those remaining in Oxford. We are now planning for the delivery of teaching in Trinity Term (and beyond, should the need arise), and for all examinations and assessments, to take place online. This will allow students to continue with or complete their courses and graduate, albeit under very different circumstances.
Inevitably, for safety reasons, our conferences and events have been cancelled for the foreseeable future, or will be transferred on-line. The Bodleian Law Library and Social Sciences Library are now closed, and it is no longer possible to access the St Cross Building or Manor Road Building. Staff and current students should continue to check their emails for the latest updates. We are continuing with our recruitment to academic and administrative jobs where possible, and enquiries may be addressed to recruitment@law.ox.ac.uk.
If you have an offer of an undergraduate place at Oxford, please keep an eye on the relevant section of the University of Oxford advice page for updates on how we will deal with the impact of Coronavirus on your studies so far. For UK students, we are waiting for more information from the government about how your qualifications will be awarded now that A-level exams have been cancelled. If you have applied for postgraduate study, we are processing applications as normal and will be in touch soon.
You can continue to keep in touch with Oxford Law via our website and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn). You can also keep up to date with research, news and opinions on a wide variety of topics by exploring our blogs and you can see what our Faculty members are saying about the wider impact of Covid-19.
The University’s home page details the efforts Oxford’s wonderful medical researchers are making to combat Covid-19.
I wish you all well during these difficult times.
Anne Davies
Dean of the Faculty of Law, Oxford
