Associated people
On 25 June 2018, the inaugural Intellectual Property Researchers Europe (IPRE) Conference took place at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) headquarters in Geneva. The OIPRC was represented by its Director, Dr Dev Gangjee and Katharina Behrend, a doctoral research student member of the Centre.
The conference was designed to lay down the foundations for a research network of European scholars across all fields of IP, creating a new forum for collaboration and high-quality interaction amongst leading IP researchers. It was jointly hosted by the World Trade Organisation, WIPO and the University of Geneva, which made it an excellent venue for international and policy orientated research interventions. Director Generals of both the WTO and WIPO addressed the inaugural conference.
Katharina presented a paper on ‘Morality in International IP Lawmaking – Trade Secrets as an Instrument to Overcome the Conflict between Developed and Developing Countries’. Dev’s presentation focused on ‘Website Blocking Injunctions: Lapsing Back into Liability?’. Further details on the conference can be found here.
