Lecture by Lord Sumption

The Harris Society, the law society at Keble College, was delighted to host a lecture by The Rt Hon Lord Sumption, OBE, a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, on 8 May 2017.

Lord Sumption’s lecture was on the interpretation of contracts. It was first in an annual series of lectures which the Society has established in memory of The Rt Hon Sir Donald Farquharson. Sir Donald, who served as a Judge of the Queen’s Bench Division between 1981 and 1989, and as a Lord Justice of Appeal between 1989 and 1995, read law at Keble and was an Honorary Fellow there from 1990 until his death in 2011.

After his lecture, Lord Sumption had dinner with a group of Keble fellows, Old Members, and students. The entire event was generously sponsored by Slaughter and May.
