Invited talks at UN: Dr Ying Yu and Professor Denis Galligan on due process of consumer protection

Dr Ying Yu and Professor Denis Galligan were invited to speak at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva, Switzerland on 17-21 October 2016. The talks were delivered in three events: the 1st Session of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts (IGE) on Consumer Protection, the 7th Meeting of the Research Partnership Platform, and the 15th Session of the IGE on Competition Law and Policy.
Titled 'Due Process of Consumer Protection: A Study of the United Nations Guidelines on Consumer Protection 2015', the main talk highlighted the importance of due process in the implementation of the United Nations Guidelines on Consumer Protection (Guidelines 2015). The relevance of Guidelines 2015 to the One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative was also discussed, where Dr Yu and Professor Galligan proposed the creation of a special committee of experts on due process to assist with its implementation.
Professor Denis Galligan is Professor of Socio-legal Studies at the University of Oxford, and Director of Foundation of Law, Justice and Society.
Dr Ying Yu is a Research Fellow of Law, Justice and Society at the University of Oxford, and Director of the China Programme in the Foundation of Law, Justice and Society.
