Building project updates Michaelmas Term 2016

Over the summer, a large amount of work for phase 2 of the St Cross Building project has been undertaken. Many new spaces are now open for users, including refurbished reception space, English Faculty Library entrance, English Faculty office and reception space and Bodleian Law Library reception and new teaching and working spaces in the Law Library.

Work will continue during Michaelmas Term with works due to complete in December. For further information and weekly updates please visit the project website.

Closure of teaching spaces

The main lift installation will be taking place during Michaelmas Term.  Due to concerns about noise and disruption to teaching during Michaelmas, the Faculties have taken the decision to close the Gulbenkian, the White & Case lecture room, Lecture Theatre 2 and Seminar Rooms A-c and K this term.  Alternative locations for teaching normally scheduled in these rooms have been found and details are available in the lecture lists.

Café area

The café area will be closed during Michaelmas Term and will reopen in January. Café facilities are available in the next door Manor Road Building on the first floor, open Monday to Friday.  Breakfast is available 8:30 – 10:30am; lunch 12 – 2pm; and hot drinks, cakes and snacks from opening at 8:30am until closing at 5pm in term and 4pm in vacation. The Manor Road building also has vending machines, located on the first floor adjacent to the café.

Bike racks

Please note that there are a reduced number of bike racks at the front of the building,  additional temporary racks are located on the grass to the front of the building.

Toilets

New toilets on the Ground Floor next to lecture Theatre 2 are now open. Additional facilities on the first floor will be opening in October.

Bodleian Law Library

From Wednesday 5th October,  users can enter the library through the main doors at the top of the external stairs and use the refurbished entrance. The new Freshfields Room is located on the Ground Floor. New discussion room spaces will open to readers in the near future and further information will be circulated about these.  For any information about relocated collections please talk to one of the librarians. Further information is also available on the Bodleian Law Library website.

English Faculty Office

The new English Faculty office is located on the Ground Floor, at the end of the corridor next to Lecture Theatre 2.

English Faculty Library

The new English Faculty Library entrance is adjacent to the main building reception, on the first floor. The EFL will reopen on Tuesday 4th of October.  For further information about the changes to the EFL, please email efl-enquiries@bodleian.ox.ac.uk.
