International lectures given by Dapo Akande
In March, Professor Dapo Akande delivered the Sir Ninian Stephen Visiting Fellow Public Lecture at the University of Melbourne’s Asia-Pacific Centre for Military Law. His topic was 'Detention in Armed Conflict: The Interaction between International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law'.
More recently, Professor Akande delivered the Susan N. and Augustus DiZerega Lecture at George Washington University Law School. The lecture titled 'Does International Law Allow the Use of Force in Support of Self-Determination Movements' was also the Keynote lecture in an international conference on State Oppression, Violence Against Minorities and the Possibilities for Remedial Secession and Independence.
