Oxford Pro Bono Publico awarded Sigrid Rausing Trust grant

Oxford Pro Bono Publico (OPBP) is delighted to announce that the Sigrid Rausing Trust has awarded us a grant of £15,000 to support and expand our activities over the 2013-14 academic year. The Sigrid Rausing Trust is a UK grant-making foundation, founded by Sigrid Rausing in 1995 to support human rights globally. Over the course of its existence, the Trust has contributed over £190 million to human rights organisations all over the world. These organisations work on human rights issues including advocacy, research and litigation; detention, torture and the death penalty; free expression; transitional justice; women’s rights; xenophobia and intolerance; transparency and accountability; and LGBTI rights. This generous grant will enable OPBP to embark on various new projects, as well as ensuring the maintenance and growth of our activities. In particular, the grant will allow us to expand our internships programme, which has given 21 students to date the opportunity to undertake unpaid or poorly-paid internships at public interest law organisations around the world. With this added support, we hope to be able to provide even more, and better-funded grants in 2014. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Sigrid Rausing Trust for their help in ensuring that the impact of OPBP’s work continues to grow.
