DPhil Candidate and Dean’s Scholar
I would like to begin by thanking the donors of the Dean Scholar’s Fund for sponsoring my DPhil in Law; without these crucial funds, I would not have been able to pursue my research due to financial constraints.
My proposed thesis is to investigate whether the minimum age of criminal responsibility in England and Wales is compatible with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. I am hopeful that my research will ‘reconceptualise’ the debate so that children become the primary focus in policy-making (rather than merely concentrating on the impact of juvenile crime on adults, or the alleviation of youth crime statistics).
I look forward to further engaging with a variety of academics through the Dean Scholar’s Fund, in order to inform my research and assist in the next stages of my academic career.
