Professor Christof Heyns, former UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions and current Member of the UN Human Rights Committee, will discuss the Human Rights Committee's newly adopted General Comment on the Right to Life and police use of force, in particular, the police use of ‘less lethal weapons’. Helen King, former Assistant Commissioner of the London Metropolitan Police and Principal of St. Anne’s College, will offer a practical police perspective on the challenges of regulating the use of force.
