One Essex Court Open Day

One Essex Court is a leading set of barristers’ Chambers, specialising in commercial litigation and arbitration. Our work embraces all aspects of domestic and international trade, commerce and finance.

Over the last few years, we have realised that fewer women than we would like are applying for a career at the commercial Bar, and in response have organised a series of events to encourage women to consider a career at the Bar. As part of this ongoing programme, we are offering an Open Day on 28 February 2019 to allow students to learn more about life at the commercial Bar for women. This builds on our 2017 Open Day, which was a very successful event, and the Panel Discussions we held in 2016 and 2018.

The Open Day, which will be hosted by barristers and clerks from One Essex Court, will include talks and advice sessions, interactive activities and networking opportunities all aimed at providing students with an invaluable insight into the life and work of successful female commercial barristers. The event is open to women and men and to law and non-law students.

We welcome applications from students in any year of undergraduate or postgraduate study and any discipline. The application form can be downloaded from our website [here] and must be submitted by 28 January 2019. Consideration will be given to all applications received by that date and up to 40 successful applications will be selected.  We will notify successful applicants by email by 11 February 2019 and will reimburse reasonable travel expenses.
