OHRSS is very excited to be hosting this panel centring on women's rights with members from the Centre for Women's Justice and Elizabeth Prochaska. Natasha Hermans from the Centre for Women's Justice is a criminal barrister who was called to the Bar in 2018. Prior to joining CWJ she completed pupillage at QEB Hollis Whiteman where she had a busy general crime practice, both defending and prosecuting. Previous to that, she was a caseworker at the Howard League for Penal Reform where she provided legal advice and representation to children and young people in custody, including representing them at parole hearings and independent adjudication hearings. Natasha also interned in The Hague at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, and at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon. Natasha is committed to providing women and girls with access to legal advice and human rights education. Giulia Lima Bianchi from the Centre for Women's Justice graduated from LSE with a law degree. She previously worked as a Family Law Paralegal and at Advocate as a Caseworker. She is currently a Helpline Volunteer at Nia East London Rape Crisis, providing emotional and practical support to women who have experienced sexual violence. Giulia has a lifelong commitment to fighting for justice and human rights, with a particular interest in gender equality and ending male violence against women and girls. Elizabeth Prochaska is a public law barrister at 11KBW, specialising in equality and human rights law. Before joining 11KBW, Elizabeth was Legal Director of the Equality and Human Rights Commission where she oversaw high-profile public interest litigation and investigations. She is chair of the Public Law Project and a non-executive member of the Bar Standards Board. Elizabeth has particular expertise in reproductive justice. She founded the charity Birthrights in 2013 and regularly advises women and health professionals in this area. She writes and lectures internationally on childbirth rights. This event will be held in-person from 7-8PM on Tuesday 8th March 2022 at the Okinaga Room, Wadham College. It will also be livestreamed on Zoom for those who cannot attend!
