Merger remedies in the EU and the UK - Recent trends
The lecture presents the main trends in merger remedies in the EU and the UK in recent years. These include the emergence of new types of remedies such as data remedies, the growing importance of coordination between the competition authorities in multijurisdictional transactions, as well as the rise in cases involving amendments to accepted remedies. The lecture also covers the latest with regard to merger remedies in digital markets, including the more proactive stance of the competition authorities and the legislative proposals aimed at addressing the identified shortcomings, including the Digital Markets Act and the UK Government’s consultation on a new pro-competition regime for digital markets, and their likely impact on merger remedies.
