The goal of the presentation is to outline how to successfully govern and manage IP in an IT start-up. This will include a high-level overview of IP-related topics together with a more in-depth analysis of the top issues that in-house lawyers may be facing, in particular:

  • IP licensing (on the basis of an example of a software-as-a-service solution),
  • copyright (including the importance of Open Source Software governance),
  • trade secrets protection (with the focus on algorithms),
  • software patents,
  • GDPR-related challenges, and
  • the role of innovation in the merger control assessment in the EU.

Questions and discussion are more than welcome!
