Oxford University Innovation brings Oxford ideas to life, working with University researchers and the IP they generate in a very practical way. OUI operates at scale, managing and commercialising around 400 invention disclosures each year, a portfolio of 2800 patents and applications protecting University patentable IP, as well as commercialising copyright and other forms of IP. In 2017 OUI reported total revenues of £17.6M, returned £8.9M to the University and its researchers, created 21 spinouts and signed 143 technology licences. Dr Mairi Gibbs is Head of Operations at OUI and will talk about

  • IP from the perspective of a natural scientist
  • Why the University has Oxford University Innovation and how University IP is managed
  • Examples of successful projects
  • Questions and discussion welcome
