ReSPECT is a new emergency care and treatment planning process, designed to enhance patients’ involvement in decision-making about their future care. As part of the evaluation of ReSPECT, researchers from Warwick Medical School are observing and interviewing clinicians, to gain a better understanding of how, when and why clinicians communicate about ReSPECT with patients or their relatives.

Karin Eli will focus on interviews with consultants in two early implementer trusts, highlighting the crucial role of uncertainty in the participants’ decision-making about ReSPECT conversations.
