Alexander Adamescu, a German citizen, and son of prominent German businessman of Romanian origin Dan Adamescu, was arrested in London on June 13, 2016 on the basis of a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) issued by Romania to UK authorities, requesting his extradition back to Romania. The charge claimed by Romania’s prosecutors was that Alexander was allegedly involved in the bribery of judges. However, there are a number of issues relating to the integrity of the claims against him, and several potential worrying flaws are alleged in the case against him and the processes by which it is brought. Alexander will be speaking about his own personal story with the European Arrest Warrant and what he feels should be done to raise awareness with issues in the workability and fairness of the system.
