This seminar series considers the role of immigration on democracy in the UK as the fascinating, and often confusing, 2015 General Election unfolds. The series will cover the changing electorate; the loss of trust in British politicians over the issue of immigration; media narratives and their impact on public opinion and policy; the rise of anti-immigration parties and policies; the impact of immigration as an issue on the 2015 election results; and the key electoral battleground issue of the NHS and its complex relationship with immigration.
