The work of journalists in English courts has long been governed by strict rules. The main aim of these rules is protecting the administration of justice. Germany has long prohibited various manners of court reporting as well. However, its prime objective is protecting the privacy of those coming in front of the court. This talk compares the English and the German approach to regulating court reporting and sets out to explore whether privacy should be a concern for English lawmakers and judges as well.
