The treaty making power has grown radically in significance as treaties have come to be used to regulate all manner of affairs in an increasingly interdependent world. Despite this the treaty making power has been surprisingly neglected in the UK by both scholars and Parliament. A number of reasons for this neglect can be advanced including inadequate controls on the exercise of the treaty making power.  Drawing on comparative insights, a case will be made for stronger controls on the treaty making power in the UK which should also serve to redress this long exhibited neglect.

A sandwich lunch will be available from 12.30. The meeting will begin at 1pm.
