One of the main forces shaping the tort law of the early 21st century is the demand by society of a broader recognition of non-pecuniary loss. Nowadays, personal injury victims are entitled to claim damages for non-pecuniary effects in almost every European jurisdiction. Based on current statutory and case-law developments, the presentation aims at tracing the broad lines of this ongoing expansion and at defining acceptable limits for the recovery of non-pecuniary loss.

A sandwich lunch will be available from 12.30. The meeting will begin at 1pm.
