Speaker biography

Justin Rosenberg

Justin Rosenberg teaches International Relations at the University of Sussex. He is the author of  The Empire of Civil Society  (London, Verso 1994), The Follies of  Globalisation Theory  (London, Verso 2000) and numerous articles on the theory of uneven and combined development. His 1995 Deutscher Memorial Lecture initiated the revival of the idea which continues to this day. Most recently, he co-edited a special issue on ’New Directions in the Theory of Uneven and Combined Development' (Cambridge Review of International Affairs (April 2021)).
