Join us at the Bonavero Institute on April 29th, 2019 when Professor Aziz Z. Huq, University of Chicago Law School, will talk about his new book “How to Save a Constitutional Democracy”.

Leading comparative constitutional theorists, Professor Tom Ginsburg and Professor Aziz Huq’s new book starts from the premise that democracies appear to be in danger. Around the world, they observe, a rising wave of populist leaders threatens to erode the core structures of democratic self rule. In the United States, many of the statements made by President Donald Trump appear to lack respect for the constitution and its core institutions. Professor Ginsburg and Professor Huq’s book addresses the question: Can we be assured that the US Constitution offers safeguards to protect against lasting damage?

The event is co-hosted by the Bonavero Institute and the Programme for the Foundations of Law and Constitutional Government and will take place from 5:00pm-6:30pm at the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights in Mansfield College.
