The Finals of the Blackstone Human Rights Moot, open only to members of the University of Oxford, will take place at 4.00pm GMT on 6 March 2021. This will be followed by a Q&A with Blackstone Chambers. To attend, register here with your ox.ac.uk email address.
The Blackstone Human Rights Moot Court Competition is co-organised each year by Oxford Lawyers without Borders, the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights and the Oxford Mooting Programme. The moot aims to promote the study of international human rights and to determine the team that will represent the University of Oxford at the Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition in Geneva. The competition is kindly sponsored by Blackstone Chambers.
The 2021 edition of the moot will take place online on Saturday, 6 March 2021.

The moot will see participants discuss the legality of various COVID-19 lockdown measures and the effect of Twitter bans on free speech rights, among other issues. The Final Round of the Blackstone Moot will be judged by Ivan Hare QC and Tom Lowenthal from Blackstone Chambers; Kate O'Regan, Director of the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights; Sanya Samtani, DPhil student at the University of Oxford (and past judge at the Nelson Mandela Moot); and Ayushi Agarwal, DPhil student at the University of Oxford (past winner of the Nelson Mandela Moot, and coach for Oxford's 2021 team). The Final Round will take place via Zoom at 4.00pm GMT on 6 March 2021, and is open to all members of the University of Oxford. To attend the Finals, register here with your ox.ac.uk email address.
At 6.00pm, there will also be a virtual Q&A with Ivan Hare QC and Tom Lowenthal of Blackstone Chambers that all Oxford students are welcome to attend. The Q&A will give all students the opportunity to find out more about a career as a barrister.
